Alzheimer’s Association Event

The Alzheimer’s Association is offering free community education on the seven essential steps in caring for a person with Alzheimer’s and related diseases at Unity Point Moline Education Center, 500 John Deere Rd, on Thursday, February 23rd, 4:30 to 6:00 pm, and at the Geneseo Public Library, 805 North Chicago St.,Tuesday, February 28th, 4:00 – 5:30 pm.

Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Iowa Chapter, Senior Program Specialist, Jerry Schroeder, will present basic guides and principles of what it means to be in a relationship with someone with dementia and offer practical suggestions about how to be an effective and enduring caregiver.

According to Mr. Schroeder, “Caring for someone with Alzheimer’s often feels counter-intuitive. No one expects to have to deal with this disease so we don’t prepare. This class is an excellent way to learn about the best ways to be sure caregivers take care of themselves while caring well for the ones they love.”
